We convened to review the Get Back film and discuss how well it depicted the events revealed by the extant audio.

12 years old when The Beatles got to USA and the Yoko presence blew the documentary for me. She wasn’t a Beatle, but she was on every other second as if she were. I hated all of the smoking, too. Just give me the entire rooftop show and I am satisfied.

Agreed. It took a long time, but can start to see what John saw in her music.

Great job in putting the post-walkout meeting in context with the actual parts in order with the parts that Peter Jackson was including in reverb… I can’t believe he mislead us a second time… once is fine.. but twice is pushing it… manipulating the editing to make it look like Paul was a sad nervous wreck about George leaving and John still not showing up… Paul was totally cool and when john calls, he’s too busy talking to even get up and take the call. This is bs that Jackson mislead us for a second time, doing a Winston Smith once again. I wonder if Paul noticed and now has a false memory of being near tears after saying “and then there were two” when in reality he was cracking a joke.

Another highlight of the morning after discussion is Paul and Linda’s opinion about shooting live music. “Cut cut cut and shots of the moon,” Paul says. “When I just want to see the guy do his bit.” He’s right. Unfortunately, this annoying approach to shooting live music has become the standard. During a guitar solo you get close ups of a musician’s face – maybe the bass player, or a shot of the drummer, or some babe dancing in the audience. The filmmakers can never hold a shot for longer than 3 seconds, and like Paul says, I just want to see the guy play that amazing solo – I don’t want to see shots of “the moon” because the editor is bored. But notice that MLH – a filmmaker, not a musician – vehemently argued against this approach. It drives me crazy. I can’t stand watching live music films and videos.

Unfortunately a documentary with Yoko as a producer couldn’t possibly portray in a non biased way. That’s it seemed like she didn’t do anything wrong in the film. Because Yoko Ono would veto that version and Jackson wouldn’t want the vicious reaction he might get if he did that. I’m still furious about the editing trick where he makes us think Paul is sad when he’s just joking around. I didn’t see any crying and didn’t understand what people were talking about. But this happens when you want something that’s not just for Beatles fans but everyone. I had a feeling this would happen when Disney somehow got control.
