I enjoy your show.. have been listening for years, but one of your guests didn’t know how to string a sentence together without saying “f*** this, f*** that.”
“Jesus Christ”.. and he talked about “s*it” quite a bit.
It became disconcerting.. as I can handle the odd swear word, but not every second sentence.
Robert, can you ask Peter Jackson what is happening to the extra footage that isn’t on the upcoming dvd?
I agree Mark. I commented on this in the first episode, but I did so very reluctantly as I thought maybe as an old guy I’m alone in this view.
It’s a shame that it is this way as guests like this have insights and experiences that I do not and therefore value. But if it devolves into this level of expression than I am not learning anything at all.
I reluctantly agree, as my mouth is as filthy as anyone’s, trust me. But the F word is always distracting and cheapens the dialogue.
Hiya. Love the 3 parter and that you chose to break it up that way. You use a lot of acronyms that are not obvious. One is Nambey (?) What is that?
Excuse me… “we get the nagras.” Don’t know that.
Most of the audio in January 1969 was recorded on two Nagra tape recorders, that’s the source of the bootleg audio.
Invented by the Polish engineer, Stefan Kudelski, the word “nagra” means “it will record”.
So, for the making of the TV show, Nagras were brought in to record the audio.
When someone says “Nagras” as a Beatles fan, they mean the Let It Be audio bootlegs.
Robert and company… thank you!! This is a brilliant contribution that will be the kind of thing Mark L. will need to listen to for his later biographies. (He will have to listen to many of your podcasts actually.) .. this is really how a review should be!
Your discovery of the lost Hoffner bass… and your friends’ sleuth work for other instruments was amazing!
The comment about George’s part in approving the Get Back song — saying ‘this is good’ — at the morning of the tune’s “big bang’ was so insightful… They all seem beyond the point of mentioning that a song is good, etc.… for George to do it here, really shows George using his power to help Paul at a crucial moment when he could have easily dropped it.
By the way, any ideas on why M. Lindsay-Hogg didn’t include the birth of Get back (just not enough time to go through it all under the timeline)?
Also the comment about Paul being “confused” with this unheard of level of creative power surging through him was another example of the powerful insights by your panel. Sounds nuts, but I do think the Beatles were a miracle from above — the “4 evangelists of Joy’ or even something like the Holy Spirit reappearing on earth, but through song this time: the music power was spooky … and it was all about love.
I don’t often leave messages, as your shows blow me away to the point that I don’t feel I have anything to add.
But I’m here, you guys, if you have a plan to get Disney to adhere to sanity and just release every single hour!… And that includes the audio as well… placed in the right sequence along with the video (still images, cartoons whatever, would be fine to accompany the audio; no need to tax Peter Jackson with having to find more representative video the next time) —
Disney, wake up and release the Hounds, every hour of audio and video now and by any means possible!!
Its criminal so many fans died without ever seeing this footage.
