186: Fly on the Wall Two: Holiday Edition

In which SATB listener favorite Jeff Martin returns, and where we honor you, the listener, by running down nearly three hours’ worth of your suggested events to revisit (as winged insects).

Loads here covering The Beatles’ career from start to finish – loads of music – and a nice way to spend holiday leisure time, while traveling or escaping boredom; posted in time to wrap up 2019 (and to salute Jeff’s birthday, too).

Thank you, each and every listener!

  1. Great show. Here is 3 of mine all entirely musical: 1- I would like to be there when John & Paul were writing “In My Life” to finally see if Paul wrote the melody and to see how they worked. 2- the recording of the full Band version of “While My Guitar…” with Clapton ! 3- Watch them first try “Strawberry Fields..” as a band ! I could come up with dozens more. Thanks!.

  3. Really enjoyed this. Robert and Jeff right on it from the start.
My suggested moment: the writing of “Love Me Do”. The melody switch into the bridge and the “gear-change” chord at its end. Mmmm, big moments. They must have felt they were on their way.

  5. As Covid drags on your Podcasts are a mental lifesaver. If you ever do a Part 3 with Jeff, I’d like to go back to late January 1964 in Paris when they find out they have a number one in America; the pillow fight, the dinner with Brian with a pot on his head. The celebration must have been joyous!
