Yes, he’s the guy who sang “Takin’ Care of Business” and “You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yet,” but if that’s all you know about this accomplished artist, then you are missing out on a lot. Randy has penned #1 hit singles for two different recording acts; toured as an All Starr; hosted a popular radio show in his native Canada; published several books, and much, much more.
“Between Two Mountains” does, indeed, sound like it was written by George Harrison, from the other side.
Hey… I’m the George of my band(s) too 😉
Randy Bachman is a true treasure …and, as a fellow proud Canucklehead, has been an inspiration since Winnipeg.
But! He forgot to mention his FIRST solo album “Axe.”
Still a favo(u)rite of mine …sort of his very own “Wonderwall.”
Thank you !!
“. ..but if that’s all you know about this accomplished artist”
All of this is well known to us Canucks. 🙂
Here’s a catchy little pop tune from Brave Belt in the 70s; I assume/imagine it’s Randy playing that acoustic:

Robert, great episode as usual. Luv it.
Great episode, thanks so much. I’ve listened to Randy Bachman’s show Vinyl Tap since its inception. I don’t think there’s been an episode in which Randy hasn’t either played a Beatles tune or at least mentioned them in passing. Pure respect.
Randy’s right about Winnie the Pooh originally being a female black bear from Winnipeg. Here’s some additional information, including photos of the bear herself – plus one of Christopher Robin with Winnie in her enclosure in the London Zoo (she was a tame creature, but even so, it’s hard to imagine a child being allowed to feed a full-grown black bear nowadays, isn’t it?).

You can all learn something else – Australians have always pronounced Bachman correctly!!!
A small personal disclosure- I was born in Winnipeg, and my father had liked the Guess Who and his favourite song was How High the Moon. This fact at the beginning of the show brought s tear to my eye because I couldn’t share it with him.
Thanks for the podcast- I absolutely love it!
Ahh, what a beautiful memory! Happy to have elicited such a sweet response.
Thank you for the chapters
56 mins in is start of a very special story don’t miss it….
Randy Bachman, thank you for a lifetime of great music and love this great recognition of GeorgeHarriaon. I recently saw your show on Long Island, it was amazing. Thank you Randy!
John had great success with turning political songs into hits whereas George and Paul wrote a few political songs that didn’t become popular at all. I wanna hear people’s opinions about why this is. I love George’s political songs because he made really great commentary on what was happening
Randy, what an inspiration you are. After listening to the show I downloaded ‘By George’ and haven’t stopped playing it since. ‘You Like Me To Much’ is incredible – that guitar/piano hook!! Truly awesome work Randy – very, very well done. Thank you!
Wow! I’ve always been a casual Guess WHo and BTO fan, but this interview blew me away. Randy’s breakdown of the Hard Day’s Night chord was mesmerizing. His stories were so fascinating–his love for the Beatles and George in particular was so great to hear.
He is a true treasure!
This was one of the best interviews I’ve ever heard. Thanks for inspiring me to back through Randy’s past albums, and his radio show.
what an Awesome Guy!!
Thanks!
Danny
